New issue of "Purpose" magazine is devoted to studying within the framework of university exchange programs. We are wondering if going abroad has an influence on future career of a young artist.  Do students, after ending their participation in a project, come back to Poland because of necessity, or because of need? With what does such a journey help, and what things does it make more difficult? While looking for answers for these and many more questions, we prepared an issue full of advice, impressions, stories and opinions.

In "Interview" section you will find an interview with Johan van der Linden - a saxophonist from the Netherlands, lecturer in two conservatories, who leads the international saxophone class and take students from all over the world under his wing. He speaks about his job and tells how the process of building international career of a musician looks like in the Netherlands and in the whole world.

On the other hand, Artur Zaguła, in our monthly "Analysis" proves that the need for "opinion exchange and getting to know another point of view" appeared in our history earlier than just in modern times. Examples from the history of arts and crafts quoted by him show how this notion was developing within the space of centuries, both in periods favourable to travel, as well as in periods that did not allow it. In turn, the importance of knowledge and experience exchange in the world of culture is discussed by a representative of the international network of artistic universities ELIA - Floris Solleveld. In "Cultural industries" section you will read about how the future of artistic education looks like from the point of view of a person representing an institution that has been established in 1990.

In this current issue, we also present profiles of two young creators who, after their experience connected with foreign student exchange, reached some conclusions that had great influence on their career paths. In "Career in culture" section, Ola and Piotr Niepsuj answer questions such as: is it worth to leave, what happens after returning and why. Some students of Polish artistic universities share their impressions after finishing their foreign scholarships - in "Young culture" sections you will find many valuable advices and first-hand reflections.

In "Workshops" sections, for candidates for foreign scholarships from artistic universities, we prepared a set of rules and formalities connected with the most popular scholarship programme "Erasmus" and a list of additional opportunities that are offered by schools for their students.
Maciej Mazerant, a publisher of "Purpose" magazine shares his fickle reflections about going abroad and about employers' approach to graduates who participated in such journeys in his "Column".

To finish your reading, we encourage you to familiarize yourselves with opinions of foreign students who chose our country for their exchange programme.

Each month, the editors of "Purpose" try to follow current events from the world of culture and creativity. Soon the period of enrolment will start at universities, as well as a period of holidays and travel. We hope that the topics raised in this issue will allow you to prepare for making important decisions that can significantly influence your future, both in professional and personal dimension.
