An issue of creating gadgets in our magazine has not been dealt with by us yet. We took this matter up right now because of two reasons. Firstly, because of published by Ministry of Regional Development and designed and prepared by our editor publication "Hand made by POKL" [POKL – Operational Programme Human Capital – transl.]. We present there 30 designers and craftsmen whose work can be utilized as gadgets promoting projects executed within the framework of EU funds. The second reason of taking up this matter was lucrative commissions received recently by two designers presented within the framework of project "Creative Self-Employed" executed by our company. They have prepared series of incredible gadgets: Dorota Kempko for Ministry of Foreign Affairs – cuff links for presidency of Poland in UE, and Joanna Rusin for Ministry of Regional Development – felt pads for participants of the most important conference in Poland that involves Operational Programme Human Capital. Both artists are examples of good project and proper promotion resulting in gaining an order that is interesting and profitable both in financial and image terms.

In the latest issue of "Purpose" in "Career in culture" desk we present the designers who have created gadgets for Polish presidency in UE. Since we already presented a conversation with Dorota Kempko (HERE), this time we decided to talk with Krzysztof Smaga and Monika Wilczyńska who are the creators of little spinning tops in the shape of dancers dressed in regional costumes. The choice of such a gadget as a tool for promoting Poland aroused mixed feelings in our editorial. Twirling in circles until you drop raises many not necessarily positive associations. Yet we decided to accept designers' arguments presented during their conversation with us for the sake of interesting form of gadget they have created and enormous amount of work they have done to execute this order.

In "Purpose" we also present an interview with Czesława Frejlich - editor in chief of "2+3D" magazine, who casts doubt on fascination of promotion specialists with a tool such as gadget. We have put this opinion together with presentation of very transitory gadgets and an interview with the producers of that American invention.

In the current issue of the magazine we also recommend "Workshops" desk in which we seek an answer to a question: how to choose a gadget that is of interesting design, original and affordable. This question is particularly important for the executors of UE projects who can spend considerable amount of money on this purpose, but encounter hindrances due to a complicated procedure of public orders. Next, in "Analysis" desk a reflections of doctor Artur Zaguła on a need of possessing a lot of gadgets – a reflection we all should engage in. The "Industries of culture" desk we devoted on presentation of two market events that have one thing in common – an object that is emotive, has an appealing design and is effective in promotional terms. We also encourage to visit the "Young Culture" desk in which we present Toprojekt studio established by graduates of Architecture and Design Faculty on Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. The designers create products for children, visual identification, posters and gadgets.

Finally, in "On the margin" we recommend the article on the social economy. What does a social cooperative have in common with gadgets? A lot – with a proper profiling of such a company in which, just like in case of Valley of Aspen, the main product is a handicraft.
