Maciej Mazerant, Purpose publisher

This issue of "Purpose" we devote to the summary of the seven years of our activities. This is the 70th issue of the magazine, which sets us among the oldest magazines dealing with creative industry in Poland. What sets us apart is that we address entrepreneurship. Without it any cultural product or service – including top quality ones – would not have an opportunity to be developed and to reach the client, that is the audience, the receiver.

We close up the year 2011 with significant changes. Firstly, we have modified the second part of the magazine's title. "Purpose – Entrepreneurship in Culture" is "Purpose – Culture, Science, Entrepreneurship" now. Secondly, our website structure has changed – we created new services, added a new function, and gave a fresh look to our layout.

In the passing year we have established many interesting contacts both in Poland and abroad. We hope the results of that will be reflected in our activities in 2012. Previous year was abundant in many conferences, panel discussions, and working meetings, in which we took part as experts and speakers.

Detailed description of our activities we publish in the "Feature" section. In this issue we also wanted to sum up our experience in the field with which we are dealing. In the "Workshops" section we present our own model of entrepreneurship in culture.

In the "Interview" section we speak with the Major of Łódź – the city which adopted the strategy of creative industry development and promotion and for which we realized the second edition of the project "Creative Self-Employed." In the "Career in Culture" section there is an interview with the leader of the Creative Communication Cluster initiative, to which "Purpose" contributes both in ideas and as a participant.

In the "Presentation" section we show pictures documenting our activities of this year. The "Young Culture" section presents a summary of our engagement in internship scheme, within which during last three years we have supported more than 20 young people on their route to the culture job market. The 70th issue of the magazine could not have been launched without the analysis of entrepreneurship in culture prepared by our regular correspondent – Artur Zaguła, PhD.

When we sum up the passing year, our activities, events in culture and in creative industry, we see many positive changes. But there is still many things to be done by representatives of not only public administration bodies and non-profit organizations but also by companies. The time of discussions has definitely passed. Now it is time to work hard in the name of Polish creative industry.
