July and August are holiday months, sunny and lazy. But not for our editorial staff. It is in July that Purpose magazine starts its “expansion” to the European cultural market. “Purpose for Europe” is a European edition of the magazine Purpose – Enterprise in Culture.

This undertaking was prepared and is realized under the Promotion of Reading Operation Programme announced by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The project aims at the development of a European cultural magazine, available on-line and focused on the dissemination and promotion of culture and enterprise in culture. An important task of Purpose is to sensitize the public to the achievements of the cultures of European countries, including Poland, and to promote young talented and resourceful artists.

The English edition of Purpose is another step that aims to develop the educational and counselling initiative which this magazine is. In 2006 Purpose gathers over 1000 permanent subscribers; over 3000 people read the magazine each month.

The project envisages four issues of Purpose – Enterprise in Culture expanded by the English supplement “Purpose for Europe” where our readers will find materials published in Purpose, translated into English. In “Purpose for Europe” we will also publish interviews with and articles about people of culture who live and work in Europe. Those materials will be translated into Polish and published in Purpose. Thus a coherent and available for everybody publication will come into being to present Polish and European  achievements in the fields of culture and enterprise.

Each issue of Purpose – Enterprise in Culture and of the supplement Purpose for Europe will contain 10 sections to present achievements in the area of culture and enterprise in culture in Poland and Europe. Articles, interviews and presentations will be provided with photographs and illustrations so that the information is attractive, modern and of the highest-quality  contents. The structure of Purpose allows its readers to actively join in the discussion on the subjects raised on the on-line Readers’ Forum; the project also envisages discussions in English.

That is not all though – in 2007 Purpose – Enterprise in Culture will establish editorial sections in Visegrad Group countries. In each country a licensed Purpose - Enterprise in Culture will appear. Therefore, we welcome all entrepreneurs in culture in Visegrad countries to contact us.

Enjoy reading the magazine and good luck in the realization of projects on the cultural markets of Europe!
